The Association of Women in Agriculture will present its 2nd Annual Women’s Ag Leadership Summit on Friday, October 22 at the Holiday Inn West in Madison. Headlining the event is UW-Madison Chancellor Biddy Martin, who will share her vision for the university she has led for the past two years.

The day-long program, open to all women involved in or with an interest in agriculture, kicks offs with ‘Life Lessons From Three Unstoppable Women,’ featuring Joan Behr, director of communications & brand management for Foremost Farms USA in Baraboo; Sandy Larson, business relations manager for Larson Acres in Evansville; and Lisa Borzynski, a veterinary with the Wisconsin Equine Clinic & Hospital in Oconomowoc.

Other featured speakers include Sarah Muirhead, editor and publisher of Feedstuffs, who will explore the gap that exists in consumer awareness regarding modern production practices and the use of technology, as well as Valerie Breunig, executive director of the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, who will share how her 25-year career has lead her to places - and to skills - she never thought possible.

Interactive breakout sessions include: ‘Stretching Your Dollar - Tips For Living a Frugal Life,’ ‘Play Like a Man, Win Like a Woman in Any Setting’ and ‘Staying Healthy & Motivated While Maintaining Balance.’

“This summit draws together an inspirational pool of presenters with diverse backgrounds,” states Marjorie Stieve, event co-chair. “With life lessons from unstoppable women to insights from those in various fields, this is an event designed to help women shape their future in agriculture.”
